"This single (originally released on cassette) was recorded over a case of Milkwaukee's Best and a pack of Raleigh 100's one lazy afternoon. This is Static Rituals at their best: soulful, collaborative and honest.
On “Problems With My Head”, Brett Jan exposes the underside of life experience and turns it into a raw, naked confessional. Bolstered by M Short’s intimate, lo-fi production and noise, “Problems With My Head” simmers like your last Parliament Light on a muggy Toledo afternoon in August. The b-side, “Self-Destruction For The Self-Obsessed”, is no slouch of it’s own. Voicing the frustration of being trapped in a body that can only express emotions through violence, the song slowly slithers it’s seductive melody through the channels of your sub-concious ala Prisonshake’s seminal 1993 classic “The Roaring Third” (released on Scat Records).
These are the last two songs Brett Jan and M Short recorded together and catches the duo taking Static Rituals in a new direction, leaving us to wonder what could of been."
